A bit of history
Saint Gildas' chapel (16th century) is nestled under an enormous granite rock, on the banks of the Blavet, a river that crosses the Côtes d'Armor and the Morbihan. Legend has it that it was in this natural cave that Saint Gildas and his disciple Saint Bieuzy settled in the 6th century. Transformed into an oratory, this place then became the centre of the Priory of La Roche sur Blavet. The interior has retained the sobriety of a monastic cell. You can see the ringing stone that Saint Gildas used to call his followers. Another ringing stone can be found in the church of Notre Dame du Bon Voyage (16th century) in the village of Bieuzy.
