A Slice of Wildness in Central Brittany
The Blavet Valley is a patchwork of diverse natural habitats—wet meadows, woodlands, copses, moors, and more.
Walking along the towpath is a wonderful way to discover its rich wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the dazzling kingfisher darting along the river, or the watchful grey heron standing silently on the banks. Listen closely and you might catch the whistling songs of music thrushes soaring above. Anglers searching for pike or salmon are sometimes rewarded with a rare glimpse of the playful European otter!
For a deeper adventure, The meander hiking trail winds you straight into the heart of this protected natural haven.
Covering nearly 153 hectares, the Crano Moors are an exceptional natural area overlooking the Blavet. Birdwatchers can spot species such as the pitchou warbler, melodious linnet, and European sparrowhawk. Meanwhile, red foxes share the moors with wild rabbits, weasels, and green lizards.
The site is classified as a “Natural Zone of Faunistic and Floristic Interest.”
The Crano moors can be explored on foot or by mountain bike.
