A voir en chemin
Billio, the smallest commune in the canton of Saint-Jean-Brévelay, nestles its picturesque village and its many villages at an equal distance from Vannes and Ploërmel. Proud of its 400 inhabitants, Billio is renowned for its dynamism and conviviality. Music festival, pardon of August 15th, walks with stories in Gallo...are the highlights of the animation of the canton. It has also managed to keep its last trade, an important place to live.
Between Guéhenno and Plumelec, its close neighbours renowned for their architectural and historical heritage, Billio has nothing to be ashamed of. It is situated on the dividing line between the two languages of Brittany: Breton and Gallo (the latter is still spoken there by the elders). The variety of place names testifies to this for those who want to take an interest in it.
« Chemins de Traverses » offers you to discover the preserved traces of the local heritage: manor houses (Trévras and the Porte Camus), granite lonères from the Coëlo quarries, mills, crosses, calvaries, bread ovens, sunken paths, wayside crosses... A variant of 8 km is offered to those who do not wish to do the 14 km loop.
Don't leave without a visit to La Bonne Fontaine, below the road to Cruguel.
